We also operate a Handyperson Scheme, carrying out small jobs to keep people safe in their homes and prevent the risk of trips and falls

We have:- A panel of carefully chosen contractors covering most trades Our own handymen who can do smaller jobs for a modest charge. Caseworkers who may be able to raise funding to help to pay for bigger jobs Technical Officers who can provide all the necessary technical advice

Preston Care and Repair is an independent home improvement agency set up in 1993. Its original purpose was to help older and/or disabled home owners and private tenants in Preston to secure repairs, improvements and adaptations to enable them to stay in their homes in comfort, safety and security for as long as they wish.
Although the core purpose remains the same, our services have developed over the years, now including:
Supervising major grant works arranged through Preston City Council, ensuring that clients feel informed and comfortable throughout the process Providing a Handy Person Service, where trained and reliable technicians carry out small repairs and maintenance jobs at minimal cost to qualifying home owners Fitting security equipment (in partnership with the Police) such as door and window locks, and safety measures (joint work with the Fire Service), such as smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Helping homeowners to find reliable and reasonably priced contractors to carry out larger jobs in their homes. Advice and help to build a schedule of home maintenance tasks for individual properties. Healthy Homes work to help clients to avoid accidents and reduce any risks in their homes. Help to access Warm Front and other grants to help increase energy efficiency and comfort of homes. Fitting small aids and adaptations (with Occupational Therapy and Social Services), including handrails, shower seats, keysafes, etc.
